'Project Freedom' - A touring exhibition of writing and photographic images taken by carers while on a residential break on Tiree.
The exhibition has been shown at Waterstones,Oban, and will be touring to Tiree and Mull later in the year.
In October 2017, a group of 7 carers travelled from North Argyll Carers Centre, Oban, to the Hynish Centre, Tiree, for several days of respite and creative writing and photography workshops, led by Leonie Charlton & Mairi Fleck.
A caring role is a complex one, and can affect people in both similar and different ways. Carers can lose their own identity, and have little or no ‘time for me’.
The work exhibited was produced by the group of carers while on Tiree, or on the ferry journey there and back. The group were encouraged to think about what freedom means to them as carers, and use words and images to express these feelings.
